Les Montagnes

6 Dancers for Les Montagnes

This piece is about relations, and all the layers inside. It’s about how we build our relationship to other; How we remember and how we keep them inside us. CHOREOGRAPHY I wanted the movement to really feel like building something in the choreographic’s moments. That’s why there is a lot of hooking, crossing, and touching, even blending in the way the video is edited. All of these ways we found them in our relation, and we felt them while we were composing the piece, searching for the accurate sensation and accurate movement. The end is opened. The viewer can interprete both signification. A crystal clear beginning with the curtain’s drop, as well as a stop in the relation with the freeze of movement and the distance of the POV. PROPS The different layers of curtains represent as well the distance we can put between each other, once we left a lot of things unsaid. It became a real gap fed by complicated sensation. The building of the relation happen in between, as in our real life. EDITING All of these frames, put together one by one, represent the memories of relation. No memory is erased by the others, they just pile up. The one starting from center and taking the full screen at the end, represents the routine we can be stuck in. I wanted memory as flashbacks. I wanted to start far from the story then to dive in with a closer POV. SONG The song directly inspires me the full theme. Listening to it, I was directly thinking about how it grows and how we really pass through mountains to build our relationship. There is a big crescendo which is taking us. It starts light to finish heavy.
